Destiny 2: Complete Leviathan Raid Rundown | Raid Guide

September 15, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Complete Leviathan raid walkthrough, drops, loot, and more!

  • Raid: Leviathan
  • Team: Six Players
  • Power Level: 260-280

Raids within the Destiny franchise has been aimed more for end-game and if you’ve been playing Destiny 2 since it released then chances are you may very well be done with the campaign and strikes. Luckily for you, the first raid is now finally available for gamers and it will be a challenging one.

The raid will offer a team of six players to meet together and go through a difficult challenge as much of the objective and challenge directions are very minimum. This ultimately means that you’ll have to figure things out with your teammates as you progress.

Of course, there are two options in the raid which is normal and hard mode. Essentially, the hard mode will offer an increased difficulty in raid mechanics, enemies, death penalties, among other aspects.

Furthermore, raids offer a means of collecting more exclusive loot which is a set of armor and a class item, and a legendary weapon. Likewise, there is an increased chance of finding more exotic weapon drops during a Raid.

[This is a work-in-progress article. Check back for new updated information!]

Notes
  1. New Death Penalty
  2. Have a balanced set of weaponry and strong armor
  3. You’ll break into teams of two and four at times. Read ahead to see how you wish to break into your teams.

Royal Pool

The first part of this raid will require players entering the Royal Pool. You’ll need to run up the outside of this building temple and destroy the Cabal enemies. From there, it’s simply making your way up to the top and enter through the doorway.

Castellum

This section will require players to grab three Standards and place them on their pedestal area. Of course, being a raid, this is easier said than done. There will be a slew of Cabal that will be in this room, not to mention, shielded Cabal who will be protecting the Standards.

Your best bet is to break off into two teams. Have one team in the area clearing out the room from Cabal while another team acts as a search and rescue. The latter team will be on their way hunting down the Standards, taking out the shielded Cabal, and placing the Standard on the marked area.

It’s important to note that if a Cabal gets to a Standard, then they can take steal it and as such, your arena based team should be on high alert at all times.

Once you have managed to find, collect, and lastly, place all three Standards on their correct place, then you’ll be able to proceed into the section of this raid.

Royal Pools

The Royal Pools can be tough, this area has a pressure plate at each corner with poison surrounding around it. Each pressure plate needs a player standing on it while the remaining players prepare for an assault.

  • Note: The central plate will have a protective buff that will allow a Psionic Protection that lasts 50 seconds.

The remaining players will be fighting off Cabal while you’ll find a large white platform will be moving. When that platform stops, nine purple cisterns will be available to attack which all nine will need to be destroyed before you are able to progress.

  • Note: If a player steps off a pressure plate for any reason, the cisterns will begin to run away and if they happen to disappear then you will have to start over once again.

Pleasure Gardens

The raid only gets tougher here in the Pleasure Gardens so make sure you take your time and follow the directions carefully. This area will have two teams, but first, before you split into these teams, you need to kill off all the enemies in the area and then make your way to the massive statue.

From here, four members will drop down into the room under the statute while the remaining two will grab the Prism weapons.

Our team of four will grab an orb from below and then make their way out, but beware of the Royal Beasts that lurk about. If spotted, a timer will run down forcing our players to head back into the room under the statute otherwise they will be killed. You only have three tries at this so don’t get too comfortable roaming about.

At this point, our team above with the Prism weapons can direct the team of four where to head in order to reach a glowing purple flower. When you have reached a flower, a player with a Prism weapon can fire at it those close to the flower will be buffed.

Again, the Prism players will need to direct them to the next flower and repeat the process. We suggest doing that if possible until you reach the max buff which is 60.

When the team of players who are holding onto the orbs reaches a buff of 60, they should split off and find a Royal Beast and kill it. Keep in mind, that once they do, a countdown will start so your attack needs to be quick.

Repeat this process until all of the Royal Beasts are killed where players will receive an Irrigation Key.

Castellum

Players will be tossed into a Castellum section once again where the same strategy applies from above. We’ve gone ahead and copied the process once again for a quick refresher.

The Gauntlet

This particular section will have two teams once again, but first, each player will need to jump onto a round platform for it to trigger enemies to spawn which it will be a free-for-all at this point killing all the enemies that flood into the area.

Once the group of enemies has been killed, two orbs will appear which will transport two players into a guarded off area where they will need to rush through collecting orbs of energy as they progress. These two players will pass through a series of gates which will be lit up in green.

However, when a player hits a gate with a red circle in their gate, they will not be able to pass. It’s here that they must communicate which row has the red circle with the outside players. That team then must fire at the triangles corresponding to the gate that doesn’t have a red circle to open the locked gate.

Eventually, the two players will return to the main area where they will need to throw their orbs into the energy fountain. You’ll repeat this process three times in which the last round all of the players will grab an orb to throw into the energy fountain.

Castellum

Castellum returns once again! You know the drill, but if not, let’s toss down another refresher.

Emperor Calus

Once you enter the Emperor Claus’ throne room, players will need to fire at the cup from his hand which will trigger a series of enemies into the area. During the fight, three players will eventually be teleported into another area where they will fight against a projection of Emperor Claus’ head.

While the remaining three will be in the throne room fighting off enemies but make sure that they don’t kill off the four Psions with a symbol floating over them.

The players teleported into a projection room will need to alert the players into the throne room what number they see on their end. Whatever number did not come up will be the first Psion you kill first, which will lower the barrier around the Emperor Calus projection head.

Afterwards, the projection Claus will fire off projectiles followed by orbs spawning that will allow the three players to return to the throne room. Now back into the throne room, players will need to climb up onto the platform that is glowing to gain the Force of Will buff.

Once you all have the buff, fire at Emperor Claus until he becomes invincible in which you’ll move onto the next platform and repeat the process until you defeat the Emperor.
