Crash Bandicoot
Crash Bandicoot, the first title in the trilogy, is arguably the easiest title to get the Colored Gems for, though it may take a bit of practice. Overall, you have to smash all the boxes in certain levels, though to top it off, you’ll have to do it without dying.
If you miss a box or lose a life then you’ll have to restart the level once again. Take time with this game and carefully maneuver your way around these levels. Below is a list of what levels in particular that players will have to go through in order to obtain the various Colored Gems.
- Lost City – Green Gem
- Generator Room – Orange Gem
- Toxic Waste – Blue Gem
- Slippery Climb – Red Gem
- Lights Out – Purple Gem
- The Lab – Yellow Gem
Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back
Following up with Crash Bandicoot is its remastered sequel, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. There’s a total of five Colored Gems that can be earned within the sequel and to obtain them will require a bit more skill than simply smashing all the boxes without dying in select levels.
Instead, each Colored Gem will have a particular requirement for players to go through. They can range from not breaking a single box in a level to a timed event that will cause players to race towards the end of a level.
Take a look at how you can obtain all five of the Colored Gems from Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back down below.
Blue Gem
For the Blue Gem, players will have to go through Turtle Woods. Sounds simple enough right? Well to get the Colored Gem, players will have to go through Turtle Woods without breaking a single box.
Red Gem
To obtain the Red Gem, players will have to use the secret route within Air Crash. This route can be discovered by having Crash skip the jet board section and instead have him jump across the floating crates until he reaches a stone platform which will warp him to the secret room.
Green Gem
Much like the Red Gem, the Green Gem also has players going through a secret route. This time, players will have to go through the secret route in the Eel Deal. To find the secret route, you’ll come across two pathways, one of which will seem like a dead-end. Use this pathway and walk through the back wall to find the path which will lead you to the Green Gem.
Yellow Gem
The Yellow Gem will require players to beat out the clock. To unlock the Gem, players will have to reach the end of the Plant Food before the timer runs out.
Purple Gem
To obtain the last Colored Gem, the Purple Gem can be found by taking the secret route in the Bee-Having level. During the level, players will find a staircase made of nitro crates which are unbreakable. Use them to reach the secret route, though take note that the route will be difficult to go through with such obstacles as hunter lab assistants and active nitro crates.
Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped
Much like Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, the third installment of the video game franchise, Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, also has players completing specific tasks to unlock the Colored Gems. Take a look at what you’ll have to do in order to unlock the five Colored Gems.
Blue Gem
To obtain the Blue Gem, players will have to complete the death route in Tomb Wader. This is accessed by reaching the skull and crossbones lift without losing a life.
Green Gem
Speaking of the Tomb Wader route, players will find the Green Gem simply by accessing the route in the game.
Red Gem
The Red Gem is actually obtained through a secret course completion. Players will be able to reach this course by smashing the “!” box located at the end of the Deep Trouble level.
Yellow Gem
Before you are able to obtain the Yellow Gem, players must first collect the total of ten relics in which the alternate entrance to Hang’em High will be unlocked. This route will conceal the Yellow Gem.
Purple Gem
The Purple Gem is only obtained by players who are able to complete the Death Route in the level High Time.
