You might recognize Peter Moore as the guy who comes out at E3 for EA to talk sports, specifically soccer. Well, today it has been announced that Moore will be soon leaving EA to join his childhood and lifelong favorite soccer team, Liverpool.
The announcement comes directly from the Liverpool website, which states the following:
Liverpool-born Moore will take up his new role in June and report directly to the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group. The 61-year-old is currently chief competition officer at Electronic Arts, based in the United States, and will move to Liverpool to join the club in the summer. His nearly 10 years at EA have seen him in a number of leadership positions, including chief operating officer and president of EA SPORTS.
This is both very surprising and exciting for Peter Moore. He has been in the games industry for 10+ years now, and to see someone go on to a dream job is something truly special. The Chief executive officer at EA, Andrew Wilson, took to the EA blog to congratulate Moore on following his dream.
“Peter has been with us here at EA for nearly 10 years, and I consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity to work alongside him for that entire journey,” he said. “If you’ve seen him on stage, or follow him on Twitter, or have ever read an interview with him, you will have a sense of Peter’s wit and charisma. What you should also know is that he is an unbelievable teammate, a tireless leader for our people, and his deep appreciation for great games and the passionate players in our communities is unwavering.”
“I believe deeply in following our passions and dreams in life. Spend every moment doing something that you love. We’ve been fortunate to have Peter doing that with us here for almost a decade. We could not be happier to see him take the helm at Liverpool, and I personally could not be more honored to call Peter a dear friend for life.”
“Thank you, Peter, for your passion and your leadership. We’ll see you on the pitch at Anfield.”
Moore’s replacement has not been announced as of yet, but we would also like to congratulate Peter on fulfilling his dream! We hope to see him do great things over at Liverpool, good luck!
