When it comes to Marvel, there is a ton of comic book back catalog for inspiration for projects and to fully understand their characters, stories, motives, and universes. However, when it comes to video games, the comic giant has alerted to IGN that they are giving their partner development studios freedom to create something completely new.
There’s no need to relive these stories over and over again I suppose as Marvel hopes that the upcoming video games using their cast of characters will be unique. Speaking to IGN during DICE 2017, Marvel Games Creative Director Bill Rosemann stated that they are essentially giving developers the freedom to make a new original story.
“We want to give our partners…freedom to look at all of Marvel history and to pick from what interests them. It’s a bit like we’re saying, ‘Hey you’re the chef, you’re going to make this meal. Here are all of the ingredients. You pick the ingredients that you like and make a new meal.”
Currently, there are four projects in the works which include an Insomniac Games Spider-Man title, Telltale’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Capcom’s Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, and lastly a Square Enix project involving The Avengers.
We’re not sure just what the stories will entail with these upcoming video games, but it’s nice knowing that the developers can create something truly unique and new for these characters instead of rehash material is already seen or read.
