Bethesda’s famed game director, Todd Howard, recently spoke with GameSpot in which a tease came out regarding the development studio’s next mobile video game release. Unfortunately, we don’t have too many details regarding what the upcoming title will be about, though we’ll likely know more during E3 of this year.
Last year during E3 2016, Bethesda held their press briefing in which the studio unveiled a mobile title. The video game announced and later released that day for Apple iOS devices was Fallout Shelter. Essentially, within Fallout Shelter, players take on the role of an Overseer who maintains and manages a Vault.
The game was free-to-play and didn’t limit players with several key items being locked away behind a paywall. Despite not having an emphasis on in-app purchases, the game went on to make millions according to various reports online. It’s with this success that we’re not surprised in Bethesda announcing new mobile games down the line.
As mentioned, the mobile game tease was during an interview with GameSpot where Todd Howard alerted the publication that another mobile game is in the works and will be based on the Fallout Shelter experience.
“We do have another mobile project game that we thought about for a while. Based on the Shelter experience, we’re kind of rolling on something new.”
No further details were revealed about the new mobile game, though it’s quite possible that we’re going to see another E3 announcement and possible release this year.
