Take-Two is certainly enjoying Rockstar’s success with Grand Theft Auto V along with the Grand Theft Auto Online component. The development team is already gaining plenty of attention simply due to the announcement of Red Dead Redemption 2 and because of the attention being focused on the project, Take-Two CEO was questioned quite a bit about the upcoming video game title during an earnings call.
We didn’t get much information in terms of the video game itself from Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick. Instead, Strauss Zelnick decided to hold off on making comments regarding much of the game according to a report made by GameSpot.
What Take-Two seems to be most excited about with the upcoming release of Red Dead Redemption 2 is the online aspect. With the incredible success Rockstar found with Grand Theft Auto Online, it’s not surprising that Red Dead Redemption 2 will also have a big focus on multiplayer gameplay, but it’s questionable as to how successful it will be compared to Grand Theft Auto V’s online multiplayer.
“Obviously, we’re incredibly excited about the title. Not just Red Dead Redemption 2, but also the online offering to come. So Rockstar will talk more about the title, but obviously, there is great anticipation both on the part of ourselves and consumers.”
Likewise, Take-Two’s CEO also doesn’t find that the upcoming title will have big competition against Grand Theft Auto Online. Instead, the success of the title will be based on quality and the hype leading up to its release.
“So, I don’t think there is any competitive dynamic with any of our upcoming releases, apart from the fact that our success is driven by quality. So I think the success of [Red Dead Redemption 2], which is highly anticipated, will be driven by its quality, and I think that the ongoing success of Grand Theft Auto Online is driven by its extraordinary quality.”
