Koei Tecmo Reveals VR Cabinet With Touch & Smell Features

February 6, 2017 by Dennis Patrick

Check out the new VR cabinet.

Virtual reality gaming has been a big topic of discussion as of late. More and more manufacturers are looking at delivering gamers a new means of enjoying video games. Already the market is quickly filling up with new headsets, controls, and other peripherals to give that new gaming experience, but Koei Tecmo may have beat some manufacturers to the punch.

A new VR cabinet, which was reported on by Kotaku, is offering gamers a series of VR functions. At its base, the cabinet will offer PlayStation 4 VR functionality. Although there is other hardware attached that makes this cabinet really stand out.

This cabinet will offer other senses to be triggered during gameplay. For instance, the chair moves, there is a scent function that will allow gamers to smell certain terrains and objects, and there’s even a touch function. With the touch function, gamers can sense objects like insects and rats crawling over your body.

It will be interesting to see if Koei Tecmo fully commits to this project and further release these VR cabinets around the world for gamers to test out. With such a big focus in VR right now, we’re sure there are other projects in the works that may already top this innovative machine.
