Sony recently announced the awaited PlayStation 4 firmware update 4.5. The update is slated to bring in a number of new features to the PlayStation 4 console one of which is the highly requested external HDD support. Since Sony has announced features coming to the PlayStation 4, beta users have started to leak out a feature left out from the initial announcement for Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro console.
Thanks to reports made on NeoGaf, it was leaked out that PlayStation 4 Pro users will have a new feature called Boost mode with the 4.5 update. This new Boost mode will allow improved performance for standard PlayStation 4 video games that were not patched for the PlayStation 4 Pro.
Gamers may see improvements in gameplay and increased frame rates despite video games being left out of being patched for the PlayStation 4 Pro. There is an indication that the Boost mode can freely be disabled if there is any unexpected behavior during gameplay.
While Sony has yet to note about this new feature, the post made on the PlayStation Blog that more details regarding the update will be revealed in the coming weeks. It’s very likely that this feature may be one of the announcements slated to be revealed later on before the release of the update is made public.
In the meantime, we can check out the Boost mode in action thanks to some beta users who have posted online gameplay showcasing the mode.
