The twenty-third installment to the Need for Speed franchise was officially stated to be in development according to CEO of EA, Andrew Wilson. Polygon reported that during an EA investor call, CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that there is another Need for Speed video game project in the works, one separate from the Need for Speed: Edge video game title.
Not much information was unveiled quite yet about the new ambitious title though it was revealed that gamers can expect to see the video game launch before March of 2018. As mentioned, the video game is separate from Need for Speed: Edge, a video game title currently in development by EA Spearhead. This title is slated to be a free-to-play online game that will hold some similarities to how EA handled FIFA Online.
More information will likely be unveiled during E3 of this year when it comes to the new Need for Speed title. In other news, during the same earnings investor call, CEO Andrew Wilson also confirmed Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will have a single-player campaign. Again, much like Need for Speed, there were not too many details regarding the Star Wars: Battlefront 2 video game quite yet.
The last main installment to the Need for Speed franchise was titled simply Need for Speed and acted as a reboot for the franchise when it launched back in 2015. We’re interested in just what EA decides to do differently with the upcoming Need for Speed title and just how “ambitious” this video game actually is.
