The Pirate Bay isn't just for deviants who steal media that doesn't belong to them. McPixel's developer realizes this, and he's taking advantage of the platform to get his game out there. I think he'll get a ton of publicity for it (as evidenced by this post), so good on him!
This weekend, you'll be able to choose how much you pay for McPixel…and you'll be able to download it via torrent on TPB. So you have a chance to try before you buy. Some might even consider putting the game up on Pirate Bay themselves is worth ponying up some money, given how rare and progressive that is.
Trailer here:
McPixel is a "save-the-day guy that you guide through short challenges in an oldschool point'n'click fashion. The goal in each challenge is to prevent stuff from blowing up using available tools! You have only 20 seconds to save the day! Think quick!"
And the system specs to run it:
Windows XP
Mac OS 10.6 (Snow Leopard)
Linux 2.6
Built using Adobe AIR
The pay-what-you-what form can be found on the game's website, here. Right now it looks like the average pay is a little over a dollar.
If you buy it now, you get a code from Desura, though the devs aim to have the game up on Steam, too. The Steam Greenlight page can be found here, should you want to cast your vote. Might want to play the game first, so head on over to TBP.
