The Nintendo Switch is just over a month away, and the internet has been crawling with seemingly new information regarding the Switch almost every day. Now the most recent piece of news is that if you want to replace your Nintendo Switch battery you will have to go through the official company for a replacement: “the internal battery cannot be removed. If the battery needs to be replaced, we plan to offer paid replacement via Nintendo Customer Support.”.
Batteries will last 2-6 hours after three hours of charging on sleep mode. The Breath of The Wild is confirmed to last for about three hours on a single charge, according to Nintendo.
I’m sure this would be pissing a whole lot of people off, the prospect of a removable battery for mobile gaming seems like something that should just happen in portable gaming. Although the idea of having to go through Nintendo shouldn’t come as a big suprise, none of Nintendo’s recent portable consoles have featured removable batteries.
No price has been announced as of yet for the battery replacement, but we will be sure to announce it on Gameranx.
