Cleaversoft’s unique hand-painted runner EarthNight encases a perilous tale of space flight, dragons, and magic. In development for several years now, it featured at last year’s PlayStation Experience event but has mostly stayed under the radar.
Described as ‘the deepest runner game you will ever play’, EarthNight chronicles the aftermath of a dragon apocalypse: When dragons unexpectedly take over Earth, humans are forced into outer space and the fate of the planet falls on the shoulders of a 14 year old student and freelance photographer. The game became Head of Cleaversoft Rich Siegel‘s passion, to the extend that he sold his own business to embark on a full time game development journey.
“If I could go back and tell my five-year-old self that I’m making a video game that’s going to be on a console, he wouldn’t believe me…I feel like I’m on the verge of being able to create a timeless piece of art. My first thing that will outlive me and be here forever.”
Unlike many other runners, EarthNight will not be endless. It will task players with crossing through 8 painted layers of the atmosphere, alternating between skydiving and running on the backs of dragons. EarthNight is expected for release by late 2017 on PC, Mac, iOS, Android, PS Vita following an initial PS4 release.
