First announced early last year, Sea of Solitude is an upcoming adventure game from Jo-Mei Games. A recent post on EA’s website from Executive Vice President Patrick Söderlund reveals that it is the second game to feature in EA’s Originals program, which was introduced during E3 this year.
Similar to the Square Enix Collective, the purpose of EA Originals is to offer small studios the necessary support and funding to make their games a reality. Söderlund believes that the program will spread the word about lesser known titles, and help them transition from relative anonymity to the hands of players:
“Making games is hard. It’s a hard business. These developers have taken on the risk of developing a new IP, and great games deserve to be played. So with EA Originals, we want the profits from these games to go into the hands of the studios making them. We want them to be recognized for their work, so they can keep innovating and creating, and so the players get to play more and more amazing games.”
Sea of Solitude’s story focuses on Kay, a young girl who has inexplicably turned into a monster. She embarks on a journey to find out why, but discovers that the biggest monsters are not always in plain sight.
