Alan Wake was a hit horror title that was exclusive to the Microsoft Xbox 360 and PC platforms. Since its release, the franchise grew a massive following with plenty of gamers eagerly awaiting for development team Remedy Entertainment to confirm a new title is in the works.
So far, the Alan Wake franchise only has two installments, Alan Wake and Alan Wake’s American Nightmare. The video game series hasn’t seen a release since 2012 and news regarding Alan Wake 2 has been pretty silent.
Recently, news outlet Stevivor had the chance to speak with Microsoft’s Xbox head Phil Spencer where Alan Wake 2 came up in question. When asked what it would take before gamers would see Alan Wake 2 release for Xbox One along with PC. According to Phil Spencer, it’s really up to development studio Remedy Entertainment.
“How do I put this…well, the developer…the developer has to want to make the game.”
It seems that Microsoft’s Phil Spencer would like to see a sequel, but perhaps only if the developer’s hearts are in it. However, as it stands right now, the development team is working hard on two video game titles, neither of the two is related to the Alan Wake franchise. This, of course, comes after the studio’s successful release of Quantum Break.
While the studio has been quiet on an Alan Wake 2 release, the franchise has a massive following and it’s likely only a matter of time before Remedy Entertainment looks back at their last console generation hit for an introduction to today’s current generation Xbox One console and PC platforms.
