Back in the Summer, the development folks over at Niantic released an augmented reality game called Pokemon Go. For a few weeks, the gaming community was mesmerized by the integration between our world and a virtual one. There were rivalries over the three in-game teams, people were getting outside more often, and sometimes players even got too focused on the game and ended up hurting themselves. What we can say for sure, is that all these things started to die off after Pokemon Go made updates to address these issues. It put a damper on the danger, but some people think it also put a hamper on the fun in some cases.
But with the new Halloween event, Pokemon Go wants to bring the excitement back. In a safe way.
Between October 26th and November 1st, the following Pokemon will appear more often: Drowzee, Hypno, Zubat, Golbat, Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar all have increased encounter rates. To go along along with the theme of candy during this time, you’ll earn double the amount as usual for catching Pokemon. Any Pokemon. When you catch, hatch, and transfer them. Plus, buddy Pokemon earn four times as more candy than usual.
“The excitement of Pokémon’s 20-year celebration continues this Halloween with the first-ever in-game Pokémon GO event,” said senior director of consumer marketing at The Pokémon Company International, J.C. Smith. “We anticipate seeing many Pokémon-themed costumes during this anniversary year, and now Trainers can add Pokémon GO to their trick-or-treat route to receive Candy and add some of the spookier Pokémon to their Pokédex.”
Pokemon Go is available now on iOS and Android. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
