The Duke Nukem franchise was acquired by Gearbox Software back in September 2010, and the gaming community was left to wonder what the company would do with the license next, after Duke Nukem Forever was finally made after a decade of development hell. With the newly released Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary World Tour, fans have finally gotten their answer. Check out the launch trailer from Gearbox, taking us back in time to revisit a classic Duke adventure.

The game is a remaster of the original title that was first seen back in 1996. But now, the entire thing is remastered into a 3D engine instead of being confined to the 2.5D limitations. Taking things a step further, the original voice acting has been re-recorded by Jon St. John. Completely new in this edition of the game is the addition of a fifth chapter – made by the original episode designers, and includes musical scores by the original game composer. Still want more? Well you can take the experience online and battle eight players to the death, or team up with them in eight-player online co-op.
“We feel there isn’t a better way to celebrate 20 years of Duke Nukem 3D than to get the original team back together and provide this love letter to Duke fans,” says head of Gearbox Publishing, Steve Gibson. “With all-new content built on top of what is undeniably one of the most iconic first-person shooters in gaming history, this is the ultimate Duke Nukem experience for both seasoned fans of the title and gamers from a new generation experiencing it for the first time.”
Duke Nukem 3D: 20th Anniversary Edition World Tour is buyable now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
