Sony has unveiled a new application on both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 consoles. HBO Now has been added to both systems in which case subscribers can take advantage of watching HBO’s next big televised series, Westworld, which is set to air this Sunday, October 2, 2016, or catch up on past hits such as Game of Thrones.
This new addition to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 also works into Sony’s PlayStation Vue service. Not only can users subscribe to the newly added Ultra tier in order to receive HBO as a premium channel, but consumers will also be receiving Showtime. This comes with the previously existing 100-plus channels that were connected to the lower Elite tier.
Another premium channel, Cinemax, has also been added to the PlayStation Vue service, but consumers will have to pay separately in order to unlock the premium channel monthly. While the Ultra tier will cost most consumers $64.99, those who live in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, and Miami will have to pay $74.99 per month as they will be receiving local channels as well.
These subscriptions will also give consumers access to both of the streaming applications such as HBO Go and Max Go. Essentially, the difference between a service such as HBO Now and HBO Go is that the latter normally comes part of an HBO subscription from a TV provider while HBO Now is a standalone streaming-only service.
