You can now download Gears of War 4 ahead of its launch.
If you bought a digital copy of the game through Xbox One, you can now start the 54.6GB download. You’ll want to do so, especially if you have a slow connection and want to play by the time the game launches.
The Coalition has confirmed that a pre-load of the PC version is also on the way, and that more details will be available very soon.
Following Forza Horizon 3, Gears of War 4 is a part of Microsoft’s “Xbox Play Anywhere” plan that sees games released with cross-platform multiplayer support, meaning gamers on the PC can go up against those on the Xbox One. Any advantage the mouse and keyboard offer doesn’t really apply to a racing game or a third person shooter with heavy gamepad use, anyway.
Gears of War 4 will officially release on October 11 for both platforms. It comes out on October 7 if you get the Ultimate Edition.
