DICE has revealed that the upcoming Battlefield 1 will see the release of free DLC maps, the first of which is Giant’s Shadow. The studio revealed that the map will take players into the Battle of the Selle during the fall of 1918, and that its name comes from the massive airship that once flew over thearea and is now crashed. Its gigantic shadow rests across the map.
“The British forces have broken through the Hindenburg line and are now in pursuit towards an important railway center,” reads the official description. “Fierce infantry and tank engagements ensue on the open ground and river banks alongside the Cateu-Wassigny railway.”
Like the Sinai map that features in the open beta, Giant’s Shadow will have an armored train that lumbers across the map from one side to the other.
Giant’s Shadow will not be available upon the game’s launch and will only come out this December. The maps available at release include the following ones, with variations for the game’s various modes and sizes.
- The St. Quentin Scar
- Sinai Desert
- Amiens
- Monte Grappa
- Empire’s Edge
The game’s first DLC will include four new maps and release in March 2017. It will be the first of four maps for the game, and is included as part of the game’s $50 DLC pass.
Battlefield 1 comes out on October 21 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
