Two of the guys behind the original Total War game (R.T. Smith and John Carline) have made a comeback into the world of 4X grand strategy games. In Oriental Empires, the player will travel back in time to the heart of ancient China.
Your journey is centered around taking control of your tribe and turning it into a mighty empire. You’ll be able to build your settlement up with buildings and taking advantage of the landscape around you via markets and ports. Your ultimate goal is to become recognized as ruler of the world in the eyes of your adversaries. You’ll play as one of 16 available factions, and you’ll hone their strength and power in order to flex it diplomatically or with your military against other nations. The detailed renderings of Chinese geographical landscapes are pretty to look at, but before you know it they’ll become battlefields. Fully animated 3D models for your units helps sell the whole realism factor. Push the fiber of your nation upward by developing your religious stances and exploring the boundaries of your faction’s culture.
Oriental Empires is headed to Early Access on September 20th for PC. To learn more about the game, check out their website, Twitter, and Facebook.
