Square Enix announced at Gamescom today that Nier: Automata would make its way to Steam as well as PS4. Nier creator Yoko Taro released a hilarious video where he said he wishes he could be in Germany, though he’d probably pig out on beer and sausages.
“I will stay here and work hard on making Nier: Automata instead then,” Taro said. “Well, to be honest, I’m not working all that hard really. You can look forward to it if you want, but I wouldn’t expect all that much if I were you. Oh yeah, apparently there will also be a Steam version, too.”

Taro’s video is a unique way to announce a game for sure. He held up an actual “valve” to his eye, crying “VALVE!.” Alluding to the creators of Steam.
Nier: Automata releases on PS4 and PC in 2017.
Nier: Automata was originally announced at E3 2015. The original game was developed by Cavia, while Platinum Games is on board to develop the sequel. The game mixes the series trademark weirdness with Platinum’s well-known combat style.
