The Team Fortress 2 YouTube channel dropped a new video called “Meet Your Match”, ushering in a long awaited update to the game that formally makes it more competitive.
According to the description:
Ever since the first apes climbed out of the trees, there were apes who did it faster. Some apes just fell out of the tree. It’s a sad fact that all apes are not created equal. Presenting our newest tree-climbing-down simulator, matchmaking. Play alone or with your friends against players of similar skill levels. Climb out of that tree at your own speed, confident that the apes around you aren’t beating you to the bananas. Which technically grow IN trees, but maybe the ripest ones probably fall to the ground? Yeah, that makes sense. Look, this isn’t a banana simulator, people.
They also introduced Competitive Mode. This new mode allows you to rank up and earn medals, where every win or loss now counts. It’s a 6 vs. 6 battle with no class or weapon restrictions. They’ve got a full FAQ section up explaining it in more detail.
Quickplay is also getting an update. Instead of randomly joining in-progress games, you’ll be playing unranked 12 vs. 12 games with similarly skilled players. This means there’s now a leveling stat, where your earn XP points by battling.
