It could be just a case of Valve pulling a prank, but even a rumor of threequels for their games popping up tends to turn some heads. The studio is in a rare position, where their entire catalog of titles happens to be right at the point that all the series have a third game as the next anticipated release.
A Left 4 Dead 3 hint recently popped up. Valve developer Tristan Reidford made a tutorial for their Destinations Workshop tools, and the 8th image happened to reveal a folder titled “left4dead3” sitting there out in the open.
While in itself this could’ve been just a mistake or red herring, there are a few signs pointing to another answer. The photo in itself was replaced a short time later, removing the reference to Left 4 Dead 3. The community then began to consider Reidford’s playing habits, and it was discovered that he and other Valve developers have been playing a lot of Left 4 Dead 2. So much in fact (348 hours), that it’s mathematically impossible to play that much in the span of two weeks.
What third game from Valve do you want to come out first? Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, DOTA 3, Team Fortress 3, or Portal 3? (Featured Image came via Moviepilot)
