Called God of War 4 by leakers earlier in the week, Sony announced a new God of War game at their E3 press conference. Well, it was actually the opening game they debuted at the show, complete with a live orchestra performance.
Kratos is back, and he took his son on a hunting expedition. He takes his son to kill a deer and they both get much more than they bargain for along the way. The gameplay demonstration showed off a different take to the God of War series, making this new game have a more free camera system in addition to the hint that there will be skills (like archery) to level up. To top it all off, there was the additional hint that the game will be more open world, with individual places to explore and discover.
A Playstation developer blog tells us what to expect with the newest story in the God of War series. It’ll tell the story of a man who made a series of bad decisions, but also decided to finally make a good decision for once and finally settle down.
“It also means learning how to control his rage, the intensely turbulent monster that lives within him, steering him down ever-darker paths. Kratos needed to figure out how to put the monster back in the box, how to control when he does and does not let that monster out. Kratos’ rage has provoked a ton of bad decisions in his life, so I was fascinated to see what would happen if he actually made a good one. What would that look like? How would he struggle with this very difficult and unfamiliar road? And more importantly, why would he do this?”
