PS5 players may have to update their consoles if they want to play GTA 6.

A few hours earlier, Sony pushed update numbered Version 26.07 – 14.22.00.00 to the PlayStation 5 with these notes:
We’ve made some security fixes to the system software.
Afterwards, PlayStation Game Size shared the update number on Twitter. They also quoted their earlier tweet where they claimed that GTA 6 required PS5 update 14.10.00.00.
PlayStation Game Size is clearly hinting that GTA 6 will require PS5 players play up to this latest version. While PlayStation Game Size is a credible source for sharing information via datamining, neither Sony or Take-Two has confirmed this claim.
It’s also possible that the PS5 will get even more future updates, and GTA 6 will simply require the latest console update.
This move came after PS5 consoles were jailbroken on a recent update, and a broader phenomenon of vibe coding leading to jailbreaks, ports, recompilations, etc. of copyrighted games, including new games.
There’s a nonzero chance that AI could make it easy to pirate GTA 6, which is why Anthropic recently cracked down on this activity.
