Paul Tassi has shared what he knows about Bungie’s upcoming un-vaulting of Destiny 2.
Starting with Destiny 2: Beyond Light in November 2020, Bungie started taking away parts of the game and placing them in the Destiny Content Vault (DCV).
Bungie argued that the game was getting too big in filesize to justify keeping everything. However, they removed popular campaigns and content to put into the vault, including even the on-boarding content.
Destiny 2 entered end-of-service last June, but this week, they announced they would bring vaulted content back. But Bungie did not share the details.
Paul Tassi explained that everything returning from the vaults will be completely free, based on his sources. However, Destiny 2 still largely remains in end-of-service. So Bungie isn’t making new content, and they’re certainly not finishing Shattered Cycle.
Paul also still isn’t sure about the finer details of what Bungie will be returning to the game. For example, if Forsaken is coming back, will the Forsaken weapons also return?
Bungie alluded to technical issues that will complicate this process. Paul says they have limited resources to commit to this task, but hopefully that’s because they’re also planning for a new Destiny sequel.
