News of Activision making a new Halo game is still hot off the press, and the rumors about it are already conflicting with each other.
The Hollywood Reporter started things off with their report:
And then there is the big consumer news of the day: Activision, the Call of Duty studio, will make the next Halo game, which THR is told will be a full-feature, mainline installment into the franchise.
A few hours later, TechnicalHalo said this about the next Halo:
this is a reboot, a new chapter, lore is not going to be continued
TechnicalHalo than fielded questions about their claim. When someone linked him to the THR report, claiming THR said it was a sequel, he said THR’s report was inaccurate.
But it certainly looks to us like this is a misreading of THR’s report, who didn’t even use the word sequel. THR’s big claim is that it will be ‘full-feature,’ AKA, it should be complete with multiplayer and single player modes.
While these details can change later, it’s easy to see Activision deciding on these and why.
