I|O Interactive have finally opened a window on 007 First Light’s release on the Switch 2.
They shared this message of social media:
We know many of you have been looking forward to experiencing Bond’s reimagined origin story on Nintendo Switch 2, and we greatly appreciate your enthusiasm.
To ensure we deliver the quality of experience players expect, we have made the decision to delay the release to March 2027, with the exact date to be communicated later.
This additional time will go toward polishing the Nintendo Switch 2 performance of the game.
007 First Light was originally slated to release on the Switch 2 at the same time as other platforms. I|O previously claimed that it would be ‘quite easy’ to make the Switch 2 version with their Glacier game engine.
But then, the game’s launch was delayed from March to May 2026. Now, the Switch 2 is slated to get 007 First Light one year after that original release date.
But of course, we do want these studios to make sure the game is perfect before it gets released, and learning to port to a new platform is understandable. And it could always be worse.
