XBOX just revealed that they are now publishing PHYSINT. But as you may remember, this new stealth action game from Hideo Kojima was originally under PlayStation’s auspices. So what happened?

Sony reacted to the announcement on social media:
An update from PlayStation Studios: After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to step away from collaborating with KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS on its project PHYSINT.
…Our relationship remains strong after three decades of industry-leading, genre-defining creative cooperation…
Hideo Kojima then shared this statement nine minutes later:
As confirmed earlier through our official channels, in mid-June of this year, we unexpectedly received notice from PlayStation Studios that they would cancel the PHYSINT project.
…In the course of seeking advice and pursuing negotiations with people across many fields, we found in XBOX a partner with whom we share a common vision for the future, and we have decided to team up with them once again.
Some fans thought Xbox, Sony, and Kojima coordinated their statements. It’s clear that Sony prepared a damage control statement for the announcement, and Kojima then responded by spilling the proverbial tea. This was clearly not an amicable split at all.
