S-Game has stealth dropped a major announcement for their big game this year, Phantom Blade Zero.
As explained by PC Gamer, Chinese screen legend Donnie Yen is part of the game. In fact, not only does he play the character Mo Yuan in Phantom Blade Zero, he’s been working as a creative consultant since 2023.
PC Gamer argues keen eyes may have picked up on hints a long time ago. Years ago, S-Game developer Soulframe Liang named Kenji Tanigaki as their action director. Kenji happens to be a part of Donnie Yen’s stunt team for the last three decades.
Given S-Game’s ambitions to invent a new video game genre around martial arts, they couldn’t have found a better collaborator. Donnie has extensively learned nearly 20 martial arts, including Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Shaolin and Taekwondo. And of course, he starred in many wuxia movies himself, including the lead of 1993’s Iron Monkey and the villain of New Dragon Gate Inn the year before.
S-Game has also opened up pre-orders and revealed a State of Play next week.
