We have more news on the state of Bungie, and specifically, Marathon.

Last Friday, game director Joe Ziegler has revealed that it was his last day on the game and studio. Taking his place in this position is Del Chafe III. Del will be guiding the game’s future direction alongside creative director Julia Nardin.
Ziegler also teased moving ‘onto new things,’ which implies he may already have a place to land. He didn’t make it clear if he planned an exit or was part of the layoffs.
In connection to this, The Game Post confirmed that a new person has taken the position of General Manager for Marathon. This position was listed in a WARN notice, so we know that the last manager, Scott Taylor, was unfortunately part of the layoffs.
A new LinkedIn post revealed that Joshua Deane was promoted as Marathon’s new General Manager.
It’s been nearly a month since Sony announced layoffs at Bungie. While it is possible some people like Joe Ziegler left instead, what is likely is their exits were already decided last month.
