We Got An Update For Jimmy In Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse In The Hills

We now know what happened to Jimmy De Santa in Grand Theft Auto Online – but you might not like it.

GameRoll shared where Jimmy came up in A Safehouse in the Hills on Twitter:

In the GTA Online Mansions DLC Amanda reveals that Jimmy is “finally” moving away from home.

This dude gotta be in the debate for the biggest bum of all time. Bro is in his 30’s still living with his parents LMAO.

He shares a screenshot from the story campaign where Amanda De Santa says this:

…And our son is finally moving away from home.

A Disappointing Cameo, That’s Not Even A Cameo

Admittedly, the rumor that Jimmy was appearing was based on some flimsy speculation. Jimmy worked in an arcade once, and you can add an arcade to your mansions. Was that really enough to confirm that Jimmy is locked in for an appearance?

Outside of this, though, fans can still be disappointed about it. Jimmy and his sister Tracey are of course the De Santa’s kids. Even if they aren’t key characters for this story, Rockstar could have moved to add them in the game.

And it looks like Jimmy could have had a bigger role.

Jimmy’s Datamined Appearance

GameRoll also shared where Jimmy was found in datamining. He said this:

Tex2 has discovered a text from Jimmy in today’s GTA Online DLC (that could potentially be bugged, or was simply cut from the update.)

Regardless, Jimmy mentions that he’s moving out of state. Could this be Rockstar teasing that that he’ll appear in GTA 6? Very intriguing.

GameRoll includes a screenshot of this text message from Jimmy:

Did you meet my parents?? Wtf I tell them I’m moving out of state and they immediately go looking for a replacement kid? Ugh whatever. Welcome to the family I guess?

When asked about it, Tex2 said this:

It should show up for any arcade owners, but it seems to be bugged, or R* disabled it at the last minute.

Of course, if this message does appear in the game, that would still be disappointing. It sounds like you won’t get to see Jimmy in the game at all. So what gives?

Is There Something In The Way Of Jimmy Showing Up?

At this point, we decided to check on a possible lead. Is there something going on with Jimmy’s voice actor? Even Jimmy’s last appearance in Grand Theft Auto Online had no dialogue, as he was only see buying drugs from afar.

For those who don’t know, Jimmy’s voice and likeness comes from Danny Tamberelli. That’s the same Danny from Nickelodeon shows All That and The Adventures of Pete & Pete.

Danny has continued to be active in entertainment in various fields. Jimmy is his biggest role post-Nickelodeon.

Most recently, he appeared on-screen in small roles in 2023’s Good Burger 2 and 2024’s I Saw The TV Glow. He also published a new book with his wife, author Kate Tamberelli, last year.

There’s no clear sign that there’s any issues with getting Danny to voice Jimmy again. So we have to bring up another possibility.

Of course, maybe Jimmy is actually in A Safehouse in the Hills. It’s just that the new story campaign just got published so most players haven’t gotten to him yet. And maybe Tracey is in there too.

We know Jimmy and Tracey aren’t exactly fan favorites. That was the point of Michael’s story. But for those fans who were morbidly curious about what happened to them next, we do hope we see them appear in this update after all.
