Is Jimmy De Santa Returning In Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse In The Hills?

This may not necessarily be a happy reunion.

PLTytus has brought up an intriguing question regarding Michael’s family in Grand Theft Auto Online: A Safehouse In The Hills.

He raised the question succinctly on Twitter:

Arcades in Mansions, is Jimmy also coming back?

As we noted yesterday, you can add a video game arcade as one of what feels like endless renovation options for Grand Theft Auto Online’s mansions. Admittedly, it seemed like a minor detail then.

But now, we imagine there are some fans who are wondering where the connection is.

What Does Jimmy Have To Do With Video Game Arcades?

To be truthful, PLTytus doesn’t really have a lot to tie this idea to, but there is something. Jimmy reappeared in Grand Theft Auto Online years before his farther did.

In 2019, Jimmy was part of the story in The Diamond Casino Heist. Sadly, he doesn’t learn the ‘craft’ from his dad and become capable of joining you in said heist.

Instead, he’s part of a subplot where you start a video game arcade business with Michael’s old business associate, Lester Crest. Les hires Jimmy to help start up the arcade, much to his consternation.

While Les has doubts Jimmy will stick around, he remains there until the end of the storyline.

Is Jimmy De Santa Really An Arcades Guy Now?

Now, there’s also reason to believe that Jimmy doesn’t have anything to do with this anymore. In last year’s The Cluckin’ Bell Farm Raid, Jimmy makes a cameo.

But this time, he doesn’t even speak. Instead, Jimmy is shown in a cutscene openly buying drugs in the middle of the day.

Jimmy’s storyline function is to simply demonstrate that the Los Santos Police Department is on the take. He’s not part of the main story in any capacity, but this appearance may hint at Jimmy’s life taking a worse direction.

Which Way, Jimmy De Santa?

It’s certainly possible Jimmy still has an interest in arcade era video games when he reappeared last year, and if he shows up again in A Safehouse In The Hills.

But we can’t ignore the implication that Jimmy has taken to either using drugs or dealing them himself. If he does reappear in this expansion, it may not necessarily be a happy reunion with his family.

And we certainly can’t ignore that Tracey De Santa could show up in this story as well. Amanda was already accounted for alongside Michael, so it only makes sense that Rockstar catches us up with the entire family.
