Splinter Cell Remake Gets A Small Update To Its Development Team

December 2, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Ubisoft is still chipping away at the anticipated remake.

Ubisoft has been working on a remake of Splinter Cell for quite some time now. Unfortunately, we’re not any closer to knowing just when the Splinter Cell remake will be available to pick up, but we do have some news. It’s not anything too major, so don’t expect any trailers or screenshots quite yet. That said, it looks like Ubisoft has picked up a new leader to take the helm as the game director behind this project.

What you might find surprising is that the person taking the job is the same person who left it years ago. While we don’t know the behind-the-scenes workings that came about on their return, it’s at least reassuring that development is continuing. Work is being put into the game, and hopefully, we’re not too far off from actually seeing something new, but only time will tell at this point.

Splinter Cell Remake Director Announced

The previous game director behind this game project, David Grivel, left the team in 2022. While David was seeking a new adventure outside Ubisoft, his eventual destination brought him right back into the role of game director at Ubisoft. We’re finding out about this new update thanks to the folks over at VGC.

According to the report, David revealed on LinkedIn that he was returning to the Slinter Cell remake project as the game director. But that’s all we know so far, as we’re still in the dark about when we’ll actually see the game launched. Splinter Cell is a cherished IP among fans, and it’s hoped that the developers can deliver on the remake of the first game.

Of course, just what changes and expansions are added in the game compared to the original 2002 release remains to be seen. But we’ll hopefully see something, as there’s been no shortage of speculation and rumors about news on the upcoming title. Likewise, this is not the only IP fans have been waiting to see something on, as there’s also movement on Beyond Good and Evil 2, which has been stuck in development hell.
