Schedule I Creator Reveals They Had A Backup Plan If Steam Refused The Game

November 25, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Schedule I would have been drastically different.

Schedule I was a breakout hit for TVGS. Their debut title for the solo creator was incredibly well received, and now, nearly a year later, the game is still doing quite well in the marketplace. The only problem some gamers might have with it is that it’s stuck on PC. Those of you looking for a console release are still left without, as TVGS continues to work through the project via Steam’s early access program.

The title might be incredibly well-received now, but things were scary before the game actually dropped. The developer, Tyler, revealed to GamesRadar that they had a backup plan if their initial vision didn’t come to fruition. With the TVGS crafting a game about being a drug dealer, they knew there was a chance they would need to pivot, and as a result, there were already plans in place for how the game would be reworked.

Schedule I Backup Plan Revealed

Thanks to GamesRadar, after speaking with Tyler, the developer revealed that they had plans to make Schedule I a farming game. That was the plan if Steam wouldn’t allow the game into its digital marketplace. Which would have made this title a very different kind of gameplay experience, but fortunately, that didn’t happen.

While there were some battles to get the game going in specific markets, Schedule I launched on Steam and proved to be an indie well worth your money. After all, Schedule I recently took home the Breakthrough Award from the 2025 Golden Joystick Awards. That’s something it might not have done if TVGS had been forced to scrap their initial idea and plans.

For those of you who haven’t heard about this title, Schedule I is all about being a small-time drug dealer in a new town. You’ll have to build up your empire and expand your business. However, getting into the drugs business also means dealing with other kingpins and the law.

Currently, the game is still stuck in early access on PC, so we don’t know when we’ll actually see the jump to consoles quite yet. However, the developers have continued to work on updates and even brought in the community on the fun, as they have been able to vote on what they would like to see added to the game.
