There’s a ton of hype over Silent Hill again. It was a few years ago at this point, but the iconic survival horror IP was unveiled to be getting a new resurgence. Konami was pushing forward with the franchise with new games and experiences. One of the new upcoming titles to hopefully cater to a new set of players is Silent Hill F.
Silent Hill F is slated to launch next month. Fans of the IP have been interested, but there is some hesitation for a few. Several changes have come for this game with this installment; one of the biggest is that we’re going to see a new twist to the combat. However, the developers are aware that there are OG players who would like to experience a game similar to the classic installments of the franchise.
Silent Hill F Will Have A Difficulty Option Catering Towards OG Fans
The upcoming Silent Hill F game has been described as more action-based. It seems that the combat was a key focus for Konami and the development studio, NeoBards Entertainment, for players. We’re decades past the point when we first saw Silent Hill released. As a result, there’s a new set of players that might have some different expectations from a brand new survival horror game.
Likewise, Konami doesn’t want to release the same kind of gameplay experience repeatedly. That’s what PC Gamer learned when they had the chance to speak with franchise producer Motoi Okamoto. During their conversation, the producer noted that the Silent Hill series is something Konami has partnered with many different teams in the past. So each title will carry its own flavour depending on who is working on it.
Of course, the big statement here is that Silent Hill F will have a Story Mode difficulty option that will be similar to the classic era of Silent Hill games. We’ll just have to see how some of these OG fans feel about that mode and its new action-based difficulty options when the game releases.
As it stands right now, Silent Hill F is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms on September 25, 2025.
