Dune: Awakening is still fresh out of the gates from its initial release. We’ve officially hit the one-month mark from when the game fully launched into the marketplace. Fans are still chipping away at this world, looking to survive whatever Arrakis throw at them. However, the latest attempt to bring some new engagement backfired and left fans furious.
This is mainly a multiplayer gameplay experience. It’s also a survival game at heart, so you know, resources are very precious. You work hard to acquire all these items, and for some players, that means steering clear of having some of their gear in PvP areas. That shouldn’t really come as a surprise. However, what did come as a surprise was a new patch update that turned some PvE areas into PvP zones.
As you can imagine, players who had content in these areas, whether it was bases or vehicles, were quickly left in ruins. Fortunately, the developers at Funcom realize that this was a poor move on their part, and they are making things right. Thanks to Insider Gaming, after the fiasco from this latest patch, we’re going to get some reimbursements.
As noted on the latest update on the Steam store page, the developers are going through the different support tickets and working as a means to resolve the issues. Of course, there are a lot of support tickets to go through, so you might be waiting a little while before you finally reacquire your gear. But once you do have the gear, you’ll find it available under the Claim Rewards tab.
Meanwhile, we’re sure that the developers are going to be extra cautious about making some of these drastic moves in future patches. Instead, they might be taking a backseat on some of these changes and instead start to turn their attention to other matters for the next update, such as clearing up more bugs.
If you haven’t played Dune: Awakening yet, it’s available right now on the PC. We do have a Before You Buy video if you care to watch that below. Meanwhile, those of you on consoles are out of luck for now. We’re not going to see this game arrive for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms until 2026.
