Grand Theft Auto 5 Is Coming Back To Game Pass April 15

April 3, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Get ready to step back into the life of crime all over again.

Update:

Microsoft has since confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V is coming to Game Pass on April 15, 2025. You can read the full announcement right here.

Original Story…

There’s plenty of hype around the Grand Theft Auto franchise this year. We’re all waiting for Rockstar Games to pull the veil back regarding GTA 6 finally. However, before we learn more about that game, Rockstar Games seems to be keen on bringing Grand Theft Auto 5 back to Xbox Game Pass.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen Grand Theft Auto 5 on the Game Pass subscription service. However, a decade after the title first launched, the game is still quite popular and might do well again on the service. According to the report from a reliable industry insider, Videotechuk_, we should receive it again sometime this month.

Taking to X, the insider revealed that a community pages email that was sent out confirmed GTA 5 will be making an appearance on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. However, another significant component that might interest some fans is that the game will also be compatible with xCloud. That will allow you to play this game directly from a stable internet connection rather than having the necessary hardware to run the game natively.

For those who love playing GTAV on xCloud will be glad to hear it’s coming on there too, also confirmed by them. 🙂

Unfortunately, we don’t know when exactly the game will be coming to the subscription service. That was left out of the email, as the insider only stated that it would arrive this month. Likewise, we already have this month’s first wave of Xbox Game Pass games listed, which you can view here if you missed the news yesterday.

It could be that this is one of the games attached to the second wave. We typically get two waves of video game additions to the subscription service. That second wave should be highlighted midway through this month, around April 15, 2025.

Meanwhile, we’re still left in the dark for Grand Theft Auto 6. The game is slated to launch this year, and it’s left more than fans waiting for Rockstar Games to announce its release date. There are even reports that publishers are cautious about announcing game release dates to avoid launching a title close to when GTA 6 drops.
