Rocksteady Studios Reportedly Making A New Single-Player Batman Game

February 7, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Rocksteady is making a return to its roots.

Rocksteady Studios is known for its incredible Batman Arkham games. They first delivered Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009, and it blew up. After a few more installments, fans were interested to see where the studio would be going next. Their time with Batman seemed to be over, and after the long wait, fans were presented with Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. I’m sure you all know how well that game went over.

It was a weird pivot for this studio. For years, they delivered single-player experiences that fans rejoiced in. This was their bread and butter, so oddly enough, Warner Bros. Games opted to have this studio bring out a live service experience. Things did not go well at all. After a year in the market, the project that Warner Bros. had hoped would be long-lasting was killed off.

Today, it looks like Rocksteady Studios might be returning to its roots. Thanks to a report from Jason Schreier at Bloomberg, we’re learning that the studio is returning to the iconic Batman franchise. Details are essentially non-existent right now. However, it’s believed that Rocksteady is going back to bring a new Batman single-player game.

Speaking with those familiar with the project, Jason noted that this game is still years away from being ready for release. At the very least, it’s reassuring that they won’t be doubling down and trying another experience similar to Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. As for that failed game, it recently saw its DRM removed.

While that might give you a bit of a performance boost, we’re not sure if too many fans are interested in returning to this game. But if they do, they may see a few extra FPS now that DRM won’t run in the background. Meanwhile, in other news we recent news, the same report suggested that the upcoming Wonder Woman game was rebooted last year and is still several years away from being released.
