Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition Post Highlights Elma!

January 21, 2025 by Todd Black

She’s always there for you.

Even though many people are fairly waiting for more information about the Nintendo Switch 2 and the various games that you can play on it, there are games on the OG Switch that many are looking forward to playing before the new console arrives. One of those titles is Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition. The game is the long-awaited Wii U port that came out ten years ago and is the lone entry from the RPG franchise by Monolith Soft that hasn’t made it to the Switch yet. Another thing that separates the title from the other three in its line is the game’s stylings and plot.

While the other three entries are more of a sci-fi and fantasy blend, this game was far more sci-fi. You can see that in the various characters in the game, including Elma, who got a special spotlight on Nintendo UK’s Twitter feed:

As the post notes, Elma is the first person you meet after you’re “awakened” on Mira. With her help, you join the group known as BLADE, which is tasked with exploring the planet Mira, looking for other pods of humanity, helping those in New Los Angeles with various tasks, and more. Elma is a trustworthy character who always has your back, but as those who played the Wii U title know, she’s also someone who has some secrets of her own…

Don’t worry, we won’t spoil them, but it’ll be interesting to see if people catch some of the twists before they happen while they’re playing the game for the first time.

Another thing that separates Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition from the other mainline games is the mission flow. Yes, there are story missions that you have to complete, but just as important are the various tasks you need to do for New Los Angeles to help it acclimate to the new planet. Sometimes, that’ll mean looking for resources in certain areas or fighting off monsters that get too close to the colony. There are also numerous side quests where you help out the individual colonists with certain problems so that they personally can get used to the lives they’re now living.

There is plenty to do on the planet Mira, and Elma isn’t the only person on your team from whom you’ll get help. Plus, the mechs known as Skells are available after you complete a bunch of missions, so you’ll want to work toward that, too! The game will be released on Switch on March 20th.
