Nintendo Alarmo Sales Restricted in Europe

January 13, 2025 by Andrew McKay

Just as with the restrictions in Japan, these European restrictions are likely due to stock shortages.

The Nintendo Alarmo surprised everyone when it burst onto the scene last year. Initially, it seemed like the device would only appeal to a select niche audience. However, the sales seem to say otherwise. Nintendo restricted sales of the Alarmo to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, then extended that restriction for NSO subscribers in Japan. Now it’s Europe’s turn.

As shared by the folks over at NintendoLife. Nintendo originally announced that the Alarmo would be restricted to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers and the Nintendo Online Store two months ago. However, today they announced an extension of that restriction. The Alarmo will only be available for non-Nintendo Switch Online members around March of 2025. That is unless it’s further delayed.

Nintendo hasn’t provided any justification as to why this restriction has been extended but it is likely related to the astounding demand for the Alarmo.

For those of you not in the know, the Alarmo is Nintendo’s modern take on an alarm clock. The Alarmo is an interactive clock that tracks sleeping patterns and encourages players to rise and shine with catchy songs from Nintendo’s IP. Additionally, the Alarmo will reward those eager risers with the sounds of coins when they get going quickly.

This is not the first restriction or dealy that Nintendo has experienced with their alarm clock. Previously Nintendo announced that it would continue to restrict Japan’s sales to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers as the demand for the device was so high.
