Dino Crisis Finally Becomes Available To Purchase Standalone On PlayStation Store

November 26, 2024 by Dennis Patrick

Capcom added two iconic survival horror games to the marketplace.

We’ve seen so much hype and outcry for Capcom to revive the Dino Crisis franchise. The series is still beloved today despite being a dormant IP under the Capcom banner. However, the franchise was recently picked back up, with the first installment being released through the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription service. But now, it looks like the game has finally become more widely available on the PlayStation Store.

Thanks to VGC, we’re discovering that Capcom has brought the Dino Crisis and Resident Evil Director’s Cut to the PlayStation storefront. That’s notable because previously, Dino Crisis was a game fans have been asking Capcom to bring out as a standalone purchase. If you don’t recall, the game was only available to enjoy if you happened to subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium. Which was nice if you happened to own this subscription service, but it was a real bummer to everyone else.

PlayStation Plus has three tiers available. The top tier a player could subscribe to is PlayStation Plus Premium. While being the more costly tier, players are given access to classic PlayStation titles monthly, with Dino Crisis just being one of the games featured. But if you don’t keep up with the subscription, the games you claimed will no longer be accessible. So, you can imagine that would have been incredibly frustrating to players who just want to enjoy Dino Crisis on modern hardware.

The game is now available as a standalone purchase for $9.99. That’s great to see added in, and it may be an indicator that Capcom will be interested in bringing out some more of their classic titles onto the storefront. Of course, now fans can go back to hoping Capcom will revive this game franchise with a new installment. Of course, we have yet to hear anything official about Capcom reviving this IP outside of delivering the first game installment into the marketplace again.
