The Donkey Kong Land games for the Gameboy are awesome hidden gems in this modern era. All three of the Donkey Kong SNES games were ported to the Gameboy and featured new content and some unique challenges. So even if you’ve played the SNES versions these are still worthy additions. Today Nintendo of America announced that Donkey Kong Land 2 is now available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers.
As first spotted by VGC, Nintendo of America announced on Twitter that Donkey Kong Land 2 will be available to all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. This update comes just a few days after the first Donkey Kong Land game was added to Nintendo Switch online.
Donkey Kong Land 2 is the second game in the series of Gameboy ports. It brought with it some new content that wasn’t available in the SNES version. It also introduced some improvements to the previous Gameboy game, like more fluid movements, more predictable bounces when jumping off of enemies, better sprite rendering, and better area and tile design which made the game easier to play on the original DMG. The Donkey Kong series has always had an awesome soundtrack and the Gameboy games are no exception. There are tons of secrets, different playable characters and interesting challenges. So don’t overlook this offering.
We can only hope that next week we’ll receive the third game! In the meantime, if you’d like to read up on Nintendo adding the first game to its online service last week, click here.
