There is never a shortage of rumors, speculation, and leaks about the video game industry. We’re always wondering what the future might bring from our favorite developers and publishers. But we also have to think just where we’ll be playing these games. Xbox has been an interesting spot, as we’ve seen plenty of gloom and doom reports. Several of their exclusives recently made their way to other competitor platforms, leaving some players wondering if Xbox could be exiting the hardware department altogether. However, there will be another Xbox hardware release.
Bloomberg recently reported on an encounter with Sarah Bond, the president of Xbox. Two of their reporters were invited, and a conversation came up about the future of Xbox. It’s noted in the report that Sarah had acknowledged that she and the Xbox team are making decisions now that they will have to live within the next decade.
Bond also acknowledges that she’s making decisions now that we’re going to live with in the next decade. –Bloomberg
It’s been said in the past that Microsoft would release a new console, and as Bloomberg reported, this new Xbox will feature the largest technical leap you will have ever seen. But there could also be Xbox’s first dabble in the handheld market. While we don’t know officially what will be coming out, Sarah stated that the focus would be to meet gamers wherever they are.

Microsoft does have quite a few projects in the works to bring Xbox gaming to as many players as possible. As mentioned, there are now exclusives being sent over to competitor platforms; the Xbox Game Pass subscription service offers all of their first-party games at launch for a monthly fee, the Xbox Series X/S consoles for those who want actual hardware to run these games, and cloud gaming.
Players can enjoy Xbox Game Pass on something as simple as an Amazon Fire Stick if they have a capable internet connection. So, it might not be too farfetched for Xbox to bring out a mobile handheld. For now, all we can do is wait and see what the Xbox team has cooked up.
