Two More Multiplayer Maps Revealed For Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

May 4, 2016 by Ian Miles Cheong

Raven Software has disclosed two more MP maps that are headed into the game.

Two new maps from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be getting remastered in the upcoming game, Activision has revealed.

Following this week’s reveal of the game, which comes packed with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, the two new maps (to a total of 10 multiplayer maps) will be Overgrown and Bog. The previously revealed maps are Crash, Backlot, and Crossfire.

As Activision has stated, the upcoming remaster will only be available as part of Infinite Warfare and will not be sold separately. It includes both the game’s full single-player campaign as well as multiplayer.

Raven Software, which has a number of its own games under its belt including the previous Wolfenstein remake, will be handling the remastered version of the game. We’ve since showcased screenshots showing the differences between the original 2007 release and the 2016 remaster, so be sure to check them out.

The studio told Forbes that they had remastered Overgrown as a proof-of-concept during their pitch to remaster the entirety of Modern Warfare to Activision. The five other maps will be revealed in due time.

“So what we did for multiplayer, for example, is we worked on the map Overgrown and we used that as our beautiful corner, our proof of concept of what we’re aspiring to get,” said Raven Software studio director David Pellas. “And we worked on the foliage, we worked on the grass, we worked on the wind, the sky, the buildings, the textures. So much love went into crafting Overgrown and making it just an amazing experience, amazing visuals, that we then used that as kind of our temperature gauge on the other maps that we were working on.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered will be out on November 4 alongside Infinite Warfare. Both games are only being released on the PC, Xbox One and PS4.
