A new rumor has appeared of a big addition coming in to Game Pass.
As reported by Insider Gaming, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is set to be added to Game Pass very soon. They could not pinpoint an exact date, but they expect it to be added in later this month.
This follows rumors that other Activision games will be added to Game Pass also this month, including the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. We had also recently reported on four Activision published Transformers games being relisted on the Xbox Store.
Now there seems to be some misinformation going around about these games, so we will clarify it now. There are other Transformers games that are on sale now on Xbox Store and other storefronts. You can check that these games were not published by Activision, and are all newer games.
These four games we are talking about were delisted, because Activision’s license for them expired. Activision also had to delist their older Spider-Man games, and their Deadpool video game, for the same reason; license expiry.
Hasbro went on record with claims that Activision lost their code for those Transformers games they licensed, which led to a back and forth as Activision revealed that the code for the games was not missing at all.
These relisted games are still not available for sale. The fact that they were relisted suggests that they will be back up for sale soon, and that’s why some fans believe they will also be added to Game Pass.
If this rumor about Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is true, it will have taken about seven or eight months before they brought it to Game Pass. Activision may have waited it out because the game had proven particularly successful. Alternately, they may have made the decision to add it because they are already transitioning into promotions for Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 stands as the first Call of Duty game to be published under Microsoft Gaming, and also has the distinction of having been poorly reviewed, and also selling very well. The disconnect between players and reviewers could not be wider, as the players enjoyed the multiplayer content that reviewers couldn’t really check out in the advance review period.
While reviewers bemoaned the lack of single player content, it’s clear from reviews and sales that the players themselves were satisfied with the amount of content offered. So Game Pass subscribers can look forward to a lot of Call of Duty they can play themselves. On the flip side, we are about to see if Game Pass can revitalize the player base and change the player/consumption behavior of the Call of Duty community overall.
