I’m sure you are fully aware of the recent Fallout TV series. Video game adaptations in both movies and televised series have started to blossom. We’re seeing far fewer lackluster attempts to bring some of these classic video game storylines to new entertainment mediums. Fallout is just one of the recent hits, and now, with its popularity, it has created a surge of players returning to the past game releases.
There is a new resurgence for the video game franchise, all thanks to the eight-episode season debut of the Amazon Prime Fallout streaming series. The Fallout franchise was already a massively popular IP and fans are eagerly awaiting the next installment. We might be a good way off before the next major game hits, but at the very least, there are several past installments readily available for you to enjoy.
Thanks to VGC and SteamDB, we’ve found a spike in concurrent active player numbers across a wide variety of Fallout games. It looks like those who watched the series with no prior attachment to the games, along with those fond of the franchise already, have developed an itch to enjoy their own wasteland experience. In fact, one game has already hit a new record for the number of players concurrently going through the title on Steam.
Apparently, Fallout 76 saw a jump, with over 39,400 players enjoying the game at once, making it a new record peak for this installment. I’m sure the developers who worked on this game are thrilled to see both returning and new vault dwellers making their way into the wasteland due to the TV series’ success. For those who might not be aware, Fallout 76 is the latest installment in the franchise.
Likewise, Fallout 76 is an MMO game, so you can work together through some of the quests that pop up in the campaign. Of course, it’s been reported that this past weekend, other games from the franchise, like Fallout 4, Fallout 3, and Fallout: New Vegas, saw a rise in the number of active players. That’s just the Steam records, so it’s very possible other platforms saw a bump in active players, too.
The entire Fallout season is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. Meanwhile, we already knew a second season was renewed for this series before its debut, so the story is not over yet.
