Uncharted 4 Multiplayer’s Plunder Mode Trailered

April 22, 2016 by Stephen Daly

Plunder Mode is back but with some changes.

Naughty Dog and Sony have released a new trailer for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End which highlights the game’s multiplayer Plunder Mode.

The mode, which also featured in Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3, is a Capture the Flag style game in which you can throw the idol (ie the flag). There are some changes this time round, with the player carrying the idol now able to traverse with it – something they could never do before – and instead of five-vs-five the mode is now four-vs-four.

Teamwork is essential as you try to find the idol on the map and bring it to your team’s treasure chest. Plunder will be playable on Island, Rooftops, and Madagascar City, the three games featured in the game’s beta.

On the PlayStation Blog, Naughty Dog’s lead game designer Robert Cogburn wrote, “We still have so much to share with our fans that have been waiting a long time to hear more about multiplayer. The reveal of Plunder is just another piece. Let me assure you, what we will be revealing soon after PAX East will please a lot [emphasis his] of people.”

Those attending PAX will get to try out Plunder Mode for themselves.

Retailer GameStop recently detailed the multiplayer extras that come with pre-ordering the game online or in store.

Uncharted 4 will feature branching dialogue options and seamless cutscenes. Naughty Dog has also said it will take the average player longer to complete than previous entries in the series and it will be the first Uncharted to receive single player DLC.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launches exclusively for PlayStation 4 on May 10th.
