After ShackNews located a website that was said to be tied to an unnamed John Romero video game, the developer tweeted out confirming the speculation. Don’t get too excited, there’s still plenty of missing information on what this upcoming video game will be about.
For those who don’t know, John Romero is a pretty legendary developer. This is the creator that helped brought out such video game classics as Doom and Quake. Since his time at development studio id, Romero would help find development studio Ion Storm, Monkeystone Games, and later worked at Midway Games.
In 2014, it was revealed that John Romero would work in his own studio known as Romero Games and that he was currently working on a new shooter. However, little details were revealed about the game, until ShackNews came across HOXAR, a typical looking business website. The company website is promoting something known as the Blackroom which is apparently a new technology that allows individuals to dive into virtual reality without requiring goggles.
After speculating and reporting about the website and possible connection to a John Romero video game, the developer retweeted out the article along with saying “Yes, there may be something to this. #pc #fps”.

A post on the website states that Dr. Santiago Sonora will be speaking at a Virtual Entertainment Summit Keynote in August. Perhaps this is an indication that John Romero will be announcing the upcoming PC first-person shooter during the month of August. Nothing is set in stone quite yet so we’ll just have to keep an eye on John Romero’s Twitter feed along with the HOXAR website.
