Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is picking up a unique distinction when it releases on physical for PlayStation 5.
We had just reported that Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition was announced for PC. This special edition is also coming to PlayStation 5, but Sony has gone the extra mile and will release it for the console on physical.
As they originally revealed on PlayStation Blog, these will be the items that gamers can expect to find in this complete edition:

- In-game items unlocked via story progression:
- Carja Behemoth Elite outfit ·Carja Behemoth Short Bow
- Nora Thunder Elite outfit
- Nora Thunder Sling
- Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike piece
- Resources pack
So if you happen to not have bought and/or played this game yet, this complete edition is definitely the way to go to get it.
But the latest news about it is the most intriguing. As revealed by PSU, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition for PlayStation 5 will release on physical discs. However, it will release with two discs.
While this may seem unnecessary at first glance, the devil is in the details. The capacity for a PlayStation 5 UHD Blu-Ray disc is 100 GB. The base game of Horizon Forbidden West already fills up as much as 98 GB.
And then, the second biggest item that would come with this bundle, Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores, is at 16 GB. It does look like Guerrilla Games originally designed Horizon Forbidden West in such a way that the whole game would fit in one disc, but then they added in content much later, changing the way those plans would play out.
In any case, this is the first instance of a single game by Sony coming to the PlayStation 5 in two discs. The PlayStation 5 has had other multi-disc releases before, but those have been collections of multiple games, and published by third parties.
It may be a little more inconvenient if you’re looking to play the game, and go on a completist run, or end up enjoying returning to it again and again. But for gamers who buy physical games for game preservation purposes, this is quite a significant release.
Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition will be releasing on PlayStation 5 on October 6, 2023. PlayStation Studios have also confirmed it will be coming on Windows via Steam and Epic Game Store, but have yet to confirm a release date.
